Argument Leads To Accusations Of Intoxication Manslaughter
A man has been arrested after allegedly running over a woman in Fort Worth and killing her. WFAA has the story.
The arrested man faces charges of intoxication manslaughter for the incident, which happened on Christmas Eve. Highland Village police received a report of an accident on Justin Road and that two people were arguing beforehand.
Authorities believe that the man in the argument tried to drive away, but instead hit the woman. She was able to reach a hospital but died there. It is unknown if the two people knew each other.
The man was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. The report does not say what it was nor why the police believed he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
The holidays are a time for some people to drink heavily and use illegal drugs as a way to celebrate. These substances can push us toward making poor decisions and make it dangerous to operate a motor vehicle.
When you are looking out for others on New Year’s Eve, take special care to protect those who drink a little too much. Drunk driving accidents spike on that holiday because people stay up late for the countdown, drink before and after, and then drive home. You could save a life by acting as a designated driver. Consider it.
