Tractor-Trailer Involved in Crash that Held Up Dallas Traffic
The traffic in the greater Dallas-Fort-Worth area is infamously bad. The heavy flow of traffic, even during this time of the pandemic, can cause lengthy delays. But such delays can be exasperated by accidents, which can happen at any time and cause multiple lanes to shut down for an unpredictable amount of time.
Obviously, major accidents can cause even longer delays in traffic in the Dallas area. Take last Friday as an example. It was around 6:45 in the morning when an accident was reported on Interstate 45, heading north, at U.S. 175.
This accident caused multiple lanes to close or slow down because it involved a tractor-trailer.
Because of this one accident, which did not have any reported injuries at the time, all the lanes but one were forced to close. Traffic maps showed a delay in traffic of up to an hour.
Thankfully, drivers that were warned ahead of time were able to make the needed detours. For example, drivers that needed to get into downtown Dallas were encouraged to take 2nd Avenue as an alternative route, allowing them to bypass the accident on I-45 northbound.
In this case, because the accident involved more than two vehicles—one of which being a tractor-trailer—the blockage to traffic was extensive, causing the temporary closure of four left lanes. At other times, the delay isn’t so bad because the accident only causes the closing of one or two lanes.
