Wrong-Way Driver In Irving Causes Deadly Crash
You put on your seatbelt. You obey the speed limit. You adhere to every traffic law imaginable. You consider yourself a safe driver. Other people trust being in the car with you. Your excellent driving record causes your insurance to drop your rate because you’re considered low risk. And yet none of these things are a guarantee, are they? No matter how safely you drive, you are not in complete control of how things will turn out on the road. The decisions, be they good or bad, can bring tragedy upon you and your loved ones in the blink of an eye.
This is exactly what happened in Irving, Texas on Friday. Two young women were driving along State Highway 161 in the southbound lanes. They had a dog in the car with them. All was going well. And yet another driver, identified as Yasmin Olvera, 23 years old, somehow managed to travel north on these southbound lanes. This wrong-way driver caused a deadly accident, according to this report from CBS DFW.
The crash was indeed deadly. Both the drivers in the innocent vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, as was their dog. The wrong-way driver, in a twist of injustice, did survive the crash, albeit in critical condition. If she makes it through the healing process, she’ll likely be charged with intoxication manslaughter and one count of intoxication assault, according to the police.
